The holy month of Ramadan is a special time of the year for Muslims around the world. It is a time for self-reflection, a chance to get closer to Allah (SWT), and enjoy countless blessings and rewards for small acts of worship and good deeds. The month is divided into three ‘Ashras’ (stages), each consisting of ten days.
Each Ashra has its own virtues and rewards that people seek from Allah (SWT). They can do this doing voluntary acts of prayer (Salah), giving charity or by making dua. Many people don't know the exact duas they can make during each Ashra to seek the rewards and blessings, therefore today we will explore six duas you can recite during the first ten day or 'First Ashra' of Ramadan to show your commitment towards seeking blessings and mercy of Allah (SWT).
The Importance of Making Duas in Ramadan
Ramadan is not just a month of fasting; it’s a time for deep spiritual connection, self-reflection, and drawing closer to Allah (SWT). One of the most powerful ways to strengthen this connection is through dua (supplication). Making dua is an act of worship that allows us to communicate directly with Allah, pour out our hearts, seek his guidance, and ask for his mercy, forgiveness, and blessings.
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) highlighted the incredible importance of dua during Ramadan. He said:
“There are three whose supplications are not rejected: the fasting person until he breaks his fast, the just ruler, and the supplication of the oppressed person.”
(Tirmidhi 3598)
The Holy Prophet (PBUH) reminds us that the dua of a fasting person holds a special status in the sight of Allah (SWT). As we fast from dawn till dusk, our bodies may feel hunger and thirst, but our souls are nourished with patience, gratitude, and remembrance of Allah (SWT). This physical and spiritual state makes our hearts more sincere and our duas more powerful.
So, whether you’re asking for good health, guidance, success, forgiveness, or simply pouring out your heart in gratitude—know that your duas during Ramadan are cherished and heard.

6 Duas to Recite During First Ashra of Ramadan
Here are six duas that you can recite during the first Ashra of Ramadan while seeking blessings and mercy of Allah (SWT):
1. Dua for Mercy of Allah (SWT)
رَبِّ اغْفِرْ وَارْحَمْ وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الرَّاحِمِينَ
Rabbighfir warham wa anta khayrur raahimeen.
"O Lord, forgive and have mercy, for You are the best of the merciful."
This dua is derived from the Quran (Surah Al-Mu’minun, 23:118) and is often recited to seek Allah's (SWT) forgiveness and mercy during Ramadan's first Ashra, which is the purpose of this Ashra. This is also the primary dua for the first Ashra.
2. Dua for Guidance and Mercy
رَبَّنَا آتِنَا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً وَهَيِّئْ لَنَا مِنْ أَمْرِنَا رَشَدًا
Rabbana atina min ladunka rahmataw wa hayyi’ lana min amrina rashada.
"Our Lord, grant us mercy from Yourself and facilitate for us our affair in the right way."
This dua was recited by the youths of the cave (Ashab al-Kahf) when they sought Allah's protection and guidance. It is mentioned in the Surah Al-Kahf (18:10). During the first Ashra, Muslims can use this dua to ask for Allah's mercy and guidance in all aspects of life. It reflects the need for divine assistance in making righteous decisions and staying on the straight path.
3. Dua for Forgiveness
رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنْفُسَنَا وَإِنْ لَمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ
Rabbana zalamna anfusana wa illam taghfir lana wa tarhamna lanakoonanna minal-khasireen.
"Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy on us, we will surely be among the losers."
This dua is from Surah Al-A’raf (7:23), recited by Adam and Hawwa (Eve) after they were expelled from Paradise. This dua is a profound acknowledgement of human fallibility and a plea for Allah's (SWT) forgiveness and mercy.
During the first Ashra, this dua serves as a reminder of our sins and the importance of seeking Allah's (SWT) pardon. The phrase "we have wronged ourselves" reflects humility and self-awareness, while the plea for mercy underscores the consequences of being deprived of Allah's forgiveness.

Rabbana la tuzigh quloobana ba’da idh hadaytana wa hab lana min ladunka rahmah, innaka antal Wahhab.
"Our Lord, do not let our hearts deviate after You have guided us and grant us mercy from Yourself. Indeed, You are the Bestower."
This dua is from Surah Al-Imran (3:8), which emphasizes the importance of steadfastness in faith and the need for Allah's (SWT) continuous mercy. During the first Ashra, it serves as a reminder to remain firm on the path of righteousness and to seek Allah's (SWT) guidance and blessings.
The phrase "do not let our hearts deviate" reflects the fear of losing faith, while "grant us mercy from Yourself" highlights the belief that true mercy comes only from Allah (SWT).

"Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire."
This dua is mentioned in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:201). It is a comprehensive supplication asking for Allah's (SWT) blessings in both this life and the Hereafter. During the first Ashra, you can recite it to seek Allah's (SWT) mercy and provision in all aspects of life. The phrase "good in this world" refers to blessings such as health, wealth, and happiness, while "good in the Hereafter" refers to success in the afterlife.
6. Dua for Mercy and Forgiveness for Parents
