The Holy Prophet (PBUH) said:

الرَّجُلُ عَلَى دِينِ خَلِيلِهِ فَلْيَنْظُرْ أَحَدُكُمْ مَنْ يُخَالِلُ   (Sunan Abi Dawud 4833)

A man follows the religion of his friend, So let one of you see that to whom he is doing friendship.

The book is defining types of friendship by giving assistance that to whom we should make friend, which kind of friendship is best and which rules should be followed when you get a friend or become a friend to anyone.
