Riwaya Community – What’s it all about then? 

Recently we announced on our Instagram page the launch of our brand new initiative, Riwaya community. The concept is simple: we view ourselves as more than just a marketplace which supports Islamic businesses and customers, but a marketplace that also offers something to support the wider Muslim community both in the UK and abroad. 

How we do that has been embedded in our business model from day one and so we thought we’d take a moment to explain what it’s all about and how it works! Every month, starting from May, we will donate a % of all sales to charitable causes both in the UK and worldwide with one key theme underlying all our causes – supporting our community. We want to make as long lasting an impact as possible and that’s why all the projects we support will look to have that goal in mind. 

What does ‘community’ consist of? We’ve left it purposely vague to allow for a wide breadth and depth to our projects! The world we live is everchanging, and with social media what consists of the our community can range from down the road in the UK or 1000s of miles in Palestine.

In May we showcased our first Riwaya Community project, to support the Gaza appeal after the appalling and relentless destruction inflicted on the Palestinian people by Israeli army. We supported the Gaza Appeal via the ‘Al Mustafa Welfare Trust’ to feed Palestinians and provide shelter during this turbulent time.

Nu’man bin Bashir (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) said, “The believers in their mutual kindness, compassion and sympathy are just like one body. When one of the limbs suffers, the whole body responds to it with wakefulness and fever”. [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
