Riwaya Community – December ’21

This month’s Riwaya community donation ties in our company wide emphasis on the important of giving the next generation of Muslims the best start in life.

In keeping with this importance, we have decided to use this month’s Riwaya community to support Ummah Welfare Trust in their ‘Stationery for School’ drive.

As the impact of Covid is increasingly felt and the ongoing discussion of the economic fallout from the pandemic disproportionately impacting the worse of society and the world, it is important to shine a light on the impact that subsequenetly has on the children of those communities. Whether it is their schooling, equipment or sudden need to start work at a younger age – we need to be able to support their struggle in making a better life for themselves and their families.  

Here is a brief summary of the work the Ummah Welfare – Stationery for School project does: 

In Africa and across the Ummah, a greater emphasis on education and vocational training has led to a huge rise in demand for stationery. Unfortunately, many schools are under-funded and under-resourced to deal with the glut of students needing supplies.

Pens, books and paper are the building blocks for any child wishing to learn. Without them, a child cannot later learn or memorise class discussions.

Alhamdulillah, Ummah Welfare Trust has initiated a new programme in which schools, maktabs and madrassahs are provided with stationery to ensure their eager children are equipped to learn. The charity provides books, school bags, pens, paper, school uniforms and even water bottles.

When we started Riwaya Community, our goal was always to support services that we believe would be most beneficial to our community be it in the UK and abroad. As we move to the next stages in the Riwaya marketplace, we want to ensure that our impact on our community also takes the step. In the aim of building a brand for the next generation, we need to be able to provide and put the building blocks for Muslims of the next generation together

As the we enter 2022, inshallah we will continue with our monthly Riwaya community, we are looking for increasingly creative ways we can support our community. As Riwaya grows, we ourselves will look to develop our capabilities and the scope of projects we will get involved in!
