April '22 - Palestine Emergency

In Ramadan 2021, we all witnessed first hand the horrendous senseless attacks on the Palestinian people during the holy month. It was because of that, we started Riwaya community much earlier than planned as we wanted to ensure that we could help wherever we could.

Now we fast forward to Ramadan 2022, and we see the same thing happening with Islam’s third holiest site being attacked. Our message last year and why we started Riwaya Communinty is the same as it is now. Simply put, we view ourselves as more than just a marketplace which supports Islamic businesses and customers, but a marketplace that also offers something to support the wider Muslim community both in the UK and abroad.

You can find more detail here https://riwaya.co.uk/riwaya-community/may21-gaza-appeal/

How we do that has been embedded in our business model from day one and so we thought we’d take a moment to explain what it’s all about and how it works! Every month, we have continued to donate a % of all sales to charitable causes both in the UK and worldwide with one key theme underlying all our causes – supporting our community.

We want to make as long lasting an impact as possible and that’s why all the projects we support will look to have that goal in mind. You can see a track of all of our initiatives here https://riwaya.co.uk/riwaya-community/

This time around, we return back to Palestine, with our latest donation. Palestine Emergency Appeal by Penny Appeal. You can find out below or here https://pennyappeal.org/appeal/palestine-emergency The sacred Masjid Al-Aqsa complex was attacked on the morning of Friday 15th of April, the second blessed

Jumu’ah of Ramadan injuring hundreds of worshippers requiring urgent medical treatment.

Penny Appeal is on the ground NOW working directly with Al-Makassed hospital in Jerusalem to provide

much-needed critical medical aid to our sisters and brothers that have been injured in this blessed month’

We leave this short piece with a hadith that guides Riwaya Community:

Nu’man bin Bashir (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) said, “The believers in their mutual kindness, compassion and sympathy are just like one body. When one of the limbs suffers, the whole body responds to it with wakefulness and fever”. [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
